Itinerary

DAY 1: Depart USA
Depart from New York (JFK) or Washington, DC (IAD) for South Africa to begin your cultural odyssey.

DAY 2: Arrive in South Africa
Arrive in Cape Town via Johannesburg. Check in at the 4-start Townhouse Hotel. Renowned for its warm and friendly service, this unique hotel leaves you feeling completely at home on its quiet corner in the center of Cape Town. Situated against the beautiful backdrop of Table Mountain, across the road from the historic Houses of Parliament and only 5 minutes drive from the popular V & A waterfront, the hotel's location ensures accessibility to all that Cape Town has to offer.

DAYS 3 through 5: Cape Town
Cape Town is dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys, where two oceans converge - Indian and Atlantic.

Enjoy free time to explore Cape Town on your own. Visit the famous Cape Peninsula, hike or take a cable car to Table Mountain, explore Robben Island (site of Nelson Mandela’s former prison cell) or meet locals in townships, churches and lively ‘shebeens’.

DAY 6: Depart Cape Town, Arrive at Kruger National Park
Depart the Cape on a flight to Johannesburg and then on to your private safari lodge in Kruger National Park. Check in at the 4-start Elephant Plains Lodge.

Located in the northern part of Sabi Sand Game Reserve - one of the most prolific wildlife areas in all of South Africa, and adjacent to the Kruger National Park, this family-owned lodge accommodates a maximum of 24 guests, which ensures personal service and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The lodge is situated on the dry Manyeleti riverbed and overlooks a permanent waterhole, while the pool deck guarantees an excellent view of a variety of animals coming from the plains to drink. Daily game drives are conducted in open land rovers, with a further opportunity to join midday bush walks. The lodge also features an African Health Spa, for those seeking complete relaxation after an exciting day in the African bush.

This afternoon, you will experience the thrill of your first wildlife excursion.

DAYS 7 & 8: Kruger National Park
Two full days in Kruger allow for morning and afternoon wildlife viewing excursions and the opportunity to pass through the bush on escorted walks. Observe the wildlife while enjoying lavish comfort, traditional cuisine and local culture at your safari camp.

The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms. Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa, covering 7,332 square miles.
